Description

MY FIRST Art Trade!! Once i free from my test, i started continue drawing this artwork. Finally finished it after a long delay!
Dear Lydia, sorry for the super looooooooooooong wait! I can't draw her abs (not yet TT_TT ), but i hope you like it ^^

Lulu is an Ice Mage. She lives in ancient holy shrine that surrounded by waterscape. No one really knows why she has that ice power except her master. With great power comes great responsibility. She has a duty as guardian of the shrine's relic. She fights with spear and ice as her weapon~
Tools used:
  • Background done in sketchup 2015, with lots of help from 3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/ stocks. Rendering in Photoshop CS.
  • Lulu done in SAI and Photoshop CS 5
  • Ice done in SAI and Photoshop CS 5
  • I used photo reference for her pose ^^

The real challenge in this one is blending the character with the background. I work really hard on that, but still need to improve. I love combining architectural scenery with anime ^^
The white fog surround her is a frosty fog, it's really cold near her.

I also did this for 100 themes challenge : #18 Magic

I don't know why the other critiquers ranked this so low! This is amazing.
I can't even speak to how very very great this is, and since you want a critique, you probably don't want me to. SO I will just say THIS. IS FANTASTIC!!!!! In many ways!!!
And then pick out the negatives so you have something to try to improve.

Most of what's wrong with this is just in her anatomy. Two parts of this that might look off to some people looks actually quite good to me. One of those is the face. I love how you tilted it, and it's put together right, to me. The other part is her chest. It might look off to some, but really, it could just be attributed to humans being a bit asymmetrical sometimes. We artists tend to draw humans too symmetrical to be realistic too often.

So what's off about this most is her hands (well, you also know that you wanted to put abs on her but could not, so that's not a problem!)
On her right hand, her fingers are too long and spindly. Her thumb would look better if it were a little thicker, and if it started further out on the hand. It's okay for people to be different, with some people having thinner, longer thumbs than others, but it looks like a mistake when combined with very spindly long thin fingers that don't quite look right to begin with. I can't 100% tell because I can't Download this for highest resolution, but in the curve where the thumb connects to the rest of the hand, I can't quite tell if it arcs across properly, or if it's connected too close to the wrist like I thought.
As for the fingers, I think the main reason her right hand looks off even if her thumb is supposed to be unusual (which it probably isn't, but different people are different.) is because the bones are not the right length. When shown from the palm, the fingers should be shorter than the hand. When shown from this view, they could be slightly longer, but I think they're too long, and also, the longest bone in the finger should be the first one, closest to the hand, not the middle one.

For her left hand, the issue is that she's not really holding the staff... but it looks like she should be... Her left hand just isn't quite ope wide enough, and then combine that with the light and shadow used and it looks like her hand was painted over the staff, on another layer, rather than drawn with the staff, holding it.

I hope my critique didn't seem too negative. This picture is overwhelmingly good, so I had to find something to point out for fixing. The other Critiquers focused on the color and background, so I tried to focus on something else. The thing I know.
This work is stunning! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="23" height="15" alt=":wow:" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="480" title="Wow!"/>
